MICHELE STANZIONE
Contemporary Visual Artist · Photographer
Michele Stanzione is an Italian contemporary visual artist and photographer, born in Benevento in 1981.
His artistic research develops primarily through photography, with black and white as a central element of his visual language. His work investigates identity, memory, spirituality and the relationship between the visible and the invisible.
Through photography, Stanzione explores the human condition and the symbolic dimensions of existence, transforming the photographic image into a space of introspection, memory and emotional experience.
His practice extends across contemporary art, international exhibitions, cultural projects and photographic archives, including Portraits of Art, an ongoing project dedicated to the protagonists of contemporary art.
His artistic journey has developed through exhibitions and international collaborations in Italy, China, Albania and other international contexts, including the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2026, where he presents Bosco Sacro within the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Pavilion.
ARTISTIC LANGUAGE
Black and white is not simply an aesthetic choice in Stanzione’s work. It becomes a means of removing the image from its immediate reality and bringing attention to gesture, presence, memory and emotion.
His photographs move between the tangible and the intangible, seeking what lies beyond the visible surface of people, places and experiences.
The human figure, nature and landscape become instruments through which Stanzione investigates the deeper dimensions of existence.
His photographic language is rooted in observation but directed towards what cannot always be seen.
