NERE & BIANCHE

Nere & Bianche is a photographic journey through some of the most evocative rituals and spiritual landscapes of Southern Italy.

The project brings together the Battenti of San Lorenzo Maggiore, the Desolate of Canosa di Puglia, and the Cimitero delle Fontanelle in Naples.

Through an intense black-and-white photographic language, Stanzione explores ritual, identity, memory and the relationship between the human being and the sacred.

GUANGDONG

2015

Guangdong is the result of a photographic journey through one of China’s most dynamic regions.

The project investigates the encounter between contemporary development, cultural identity and everyday life, representing an important chapter in Stanzione’s international photographic research.

The work was presented in connection with the China Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 and subsequently in Florence.

2024

Michele Stanzione

Michele Stanzione

Bosco Sacro is a photographic and conceptual project investigating the relationship between humanity, nature and the sacred.

The project forms part of Michele Stanzione’s artistic participation in the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, presented within the context of the Equatorial Guinea Pavilion.

Through the symbolic dimension of the forest, Stanzione reflects on memory, spirituality, transformation and the fragile relationship between human beings and the natural world.
